Refineries, power plants, and certain parts of chemical plants—environments with high temperatures and little corrosion concerns—are where SA 387 CHROME MOLY STEEL is most frequently used. Either class 1 or class 2 can be used to specify these grades. Additionally, it can be delivered in annealed or normalised & tempered conditions. The annealing procedure “softens” the steel to improve higher forming capabilities, which would fulfil Class 1 characteristics.
