B16.9 Barred Tee / Bar Tee.
A barred tee is a specific form of tee that is built from a regular tee (either an equal or a reducing tee) and is afterwards outfitted with bar plates inside the branch outlet (from the inside, it looks like a steel cage) to prevent pig from flowing from the header pipe into the branch pipes.
The main purpose of a barred tee, often referred to as a branch connection tee, is to guide fluid flow from the main pipeline to a branch line.

Barred Tees are produced in a broad variety of sizes, from ASME Class 150 to 2500 and higher, according to the precise project specifications of the customer. They are made from Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, or Alloy materials in accordance with the strictest industry requirements and pipeline vessel design rules.
The branch of the buttweld Tee is connected by welding custom-fitted bar parts. To make sure the Pig goes past the branch opening, bars have been placed. Bar spacing is intended to guard against harm to the Pig’s working components.

This Standard covers overall dimensions, tolerances, ratings, testing, and markings for factory-made wrought buttwelding fittings in sizes NPS 1 ∕ 2 through NPS 48 (DN 15 through DN 1200). B16.9 is to be used in conjunction with equipment described in other volumes of the ASME B16 series of standards as well as with other ASME standards, such as the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and the B31 Piping Codes.
